Rino is the solo project of Indonesian born, Melbourne/Naarm-based producer Rino Darusman. Spanning realms of soaring euphoria and hypnotic rhythms, Rino’s sonic world is at once meditative and energetic. It showcases a brand of electronic music that conveys deep human emotions and provides a highly visceral experience through vast textures and tuneful melodies.

Rino was drawn to music from an early age, which saw influence from his father’s career as a Jazz musician and his extensive record collection. Part of an alternative rock band ‘Aspectrum’ that went on to play the biggest indie festivals in Singapore during his teenage years, Rino’s experience in the industry spans across different creative environments - and genres - making him a highly trained and versatile musician.

Following a string of self-released singles, Rino’s journey into electronic music continued via Sydney/Eora-based label Gallery Recordings. Rino’s debut EP on the imprint, ‘Expanse’, melds contemplation and euphoria through its forward-thinking soundscapes and meditative rhythms. The release has since amassed over 70,000 streams on Spotify, earning plays from editorial playlists including Portal, Night Shift and Sunday Sessions, as well as Triple J, Double J, SYN and Kiss FM. His second EP on Gallery Recs, ‘Flow-on’, sees the producer delve into deeper shades, showcasing a gritty and more dance orientated form, additionally placing on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds Dance playlists.

Rino’s recent foray into DJing has seen him do standout mixes for Novelcast, Triple J Mix Up, FORM Mag and Area 3000 Radio. Garnering attention from tastemakers Sasha, Moktar, Willo and Juno Mamba to name a few, Rino’s sonic expression has laid a foundation he looks to build upon in the future.

Shifting his focus to create an immersive live show experience, Rino has joined the scene alongside Roy Blues, Loure, Pretty Girl and Cassettes for Kids at notable venues such as Oxford Arts Factory, The Gasometer, and Colour Club. Rino’s music evolves and elevates with every release, coalescing his diverse palette of sounds in homage to the beauty of connection.
