WAT Artists believes the whole industry has a collective duty to contribute to creating an inclusive and equitable creative ecosystem. We constantly strive to foster and facilitate an environment in which all staff, artists and audience members feel valued, safe and respected.
Regardless of their race/ethnicity, migration status, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, sexuality or ability everyone has the right to enjoy or experience music in a club or party environment that is free from bullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind. Venues and promoters must go beyond legal requirements for equality and foster spaces that allow visitors and performers to feel safe, welcome, and themselves.
In order to achieve this music venues, promoters and agents must work continuously to be actively anti-racist and non discriminatory. We believe this means actively working towards supporting the wider music community, taking responsibility for harmful behaviour and being accountable through action for any misdemeanours that do occur.
We acknowledge that we are working on stolen land. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We also acknowledge and celebrate their history as our planet’s first artists, musicians and storytellers.
