Purient is the pseudonym of DIY electronic producer and vocalist, Kate Durman. A fixture of Naarm’s thriving underground electronic music scene, Purient creates sonic worlds that encompass both the ethereal and the brash; subverting pop archetypes to produce shimmering astral textures, ominous synths and dizzying experimental arrangements.

With her ability to set pop-leaning vocals and ambient textures atop skittering and abrasive club beats, Purient has carved out a niche in the electronic music scene that is uniquely her own. Often exploring themes of fantasy, desire, and intimacy, Purient draws inspiration from the interplay between the physical and emotional aspects of human connection.

Purient’s debut EP entitled ‘Memories’ (Pelvis Records & Burning Rose Records) featured two masterful remixes by international heavy hitters, Eartheater and Varg²™. From the brooding, industrial pulsations of EP title track, ‘Memories’, to the distorted pop of ‘Sad’, the EP is a powerful statement from Purient and a testament to her innovative and genre-defying artistry.
